One quiet day at the Waykeep Inn.
Maren Venn inherited an inn, a gift for keeping magic, and rather more responsibility than she knows what to do with. The inn, at least, usually cooperates.
At the Waykeep, the bread must rise, the fires must burn, and every traveler needs something. Maren knows how to manage all of that. Living up to her mother's magic is another matter.
With autumn slipping toward winter and the mountain pass still open, she has little time to dwell on what she lacks. Guests arrive carrying worries that won't fit neatly beside their luggage. The kitchen is busy, the tea needs pouring, and the resident cat has claimed the most comfortable seat.
Maren can offer a warm welcome. Whether that will be enough is harder to know.
Full of gentle magic, dry humor, buttered scones, and small kindnesses that matter, One Good Day is a standalone cozy fantasy short story set before The Inn at the Edge of Winter. Discover the Waykeep for the first time, or return for an afternoon among familiar friends. No prior reading required.
The fire is lit. The soup is hot. Come inside.
