The pass is open, the rooms are full, and every new arrival brings another pair of eyes. A growing dragon in need of open sky was much easier to hide when winter had closed the road.

Maren has help now, and she means to trust it. She has also quietly checked behind everyone at least twice. She has always kept the Waykeep running by noticing what others miss and never letting anyone see the seams. But that system does not scale to crossing season, sharper questions from the Guild, and a household that keeps managing perfectly well without her.

And something in the Waykeep's old stone—older than four generations of Venn keepers—is waiting to be understood.
